While repairs to the water main and water meter are the responsibility of the Alameda County Water District (ACWD), individual customers are responsible for repairs to the service line from the water meter to their home. To assist customers in having coverage for these potential costs, ACWD has arranged for HomeServe USA to offer Exterior Water Service Line Coverage to ACWD customers. This repair plan from HomeServe provides coverage for the service line that brings water to your home from the water meter.
This coverage by an independent company HomeServe is strictly optional and it is not provided by ACWD. It is not funded by the water rates you pay. Regardless of whether you choose to purchase this coverage, rest assured you will continue to receive the same superior customer service you have come to expect from ACWD.
Similarly, your home insurance provider may offer comparable coverage with variations on monthly fees and deductibles. Although ACWD has arranged to offer service line coverage from HomeServe, it is strictly up to customers to determine whether the coverage for repairs is right for them and, if so, to choose a plan that best meets their needs.
