Operations & Maintenance

Department Overview

Below is a brief overview highlighting some of the core functions of the Operations & Maintenance Department.

Administration

The Administration team is responsible for answering external customer calls related to urgent water related matters such as leaks or a water quality concern. They can be reached at (510) 668-6500.

Distribution Maintenance

The Distribution Maintenance Division oversees the quality and reliability of the distribution system by inspecting, replacing, installing, and repairing pipes and meters, as well as administering the backflow prevention program.

Facility Maintenance

The Facility Maintenance Division maintains all District facilities, grounds, vehicle fleet, and large assets. They are responsible for control systems, electrical systems, and mechanical maintenance of the District's treatment plant and other distribution system facilities.

Laboratory Services

Laboratory Services provides analytical and sampling support for the District. They are responsible for ensuring the analytical data they provide consistently complies with regulatory and internal requirements.

Office of Emergency Services and Security (OESS)

The OESS oversees the District's emergency operations and the security of all facilities. However, if you see suspicious activity in or around District facilities, please call 911 or alert the local police department.

Water Production

The Water Production Division plans, organizes, and executes the operation of the District's water treatment and blending facilities, pumping facilities, and related distribution and storage facilities. They also assure compliance with all state and federal regulations for drinking water quality. Environmental Compliance, part of the Water Production Division, assures the District is in full compliance with environmental regulations for air quality, sanitary and stormwater permits.
